Beta Omega

Chapter History

How  it  all  began....

In the  Fall 2000 semester, nine ladies were searching for a  sororityto belong to. An  organization that  consisted of principles, goals, and  meaning to fit their needs. However , none of the  sororities on campus seemed to appeal to these ladies, nor  did they  fit  their  qualifications of  bring based on each of their particular cultures. There  were NO Latina Sororities at Wayne  State University. So the ladies began their search and  eventually came across  Lambda  Theta  Alpha Latin Sorority, Incorporated. The  Nine  ladies began  doing research on Lambda  Theta Alpha and  realized what stood out the most  was thier  purpose whcih  incorporated community service, cultural awareness, academic  advancement and the bond, a sisterhood that  brought college women  together united by their  cultural roots. The nine  ladies began an  unofficial Interest  Group and  began to participate in community services, fundraisers and  attend socials put on by the  Sisters  of  Beta  Pi (EMU) and Beta  Omicron ( Uof  M). In  January  2001 the  National  Board of  Directors under  the leadership of  Rosalinda  Diaz, granted  the  approval to be  the  Official  Interested  Ladies of Lambda  Theta  Alpha  Latin Sorority, Inc. at Wayne  State  University.

During this  time  the  interested  ladies continued to commit themselves to their studies (Academic Advancement), colunteering (Community Service & Cultural Awareness),funraising  and  working  together  to become better acquainted with each other( A bond between woman). The  Hard  work and  dedication to the  Interest  Group finally paid off and  their  quest to bring the  sisterhood on  campus  came  true. In the Spring Semester  of  2001,five ladies, also known as  the  "Five  Dimensions  of  Unity" became the  Founding  Sisters of Lambda Theta  Alpha Latin Sorority , Inc. Beta  Omega Chapter. These  Ladies  are:

Jennifer L.  Rincones

Victoria  Vasquez

Betsabel Roman

Rosana A.Khalil

Our  First  Line... In the Fall 2001, the  ladies of the newly established Beta  Omega Chapter worked hard  to  become a  positive influence on campus their  first  year. This  included forming their  first  interest  group. As  the semester progressed, five ladies began to show interest in the  sorority. They wanted to be  a  part of the  Interest  Group that  represented Lambda  Theta Alpha in a  positive way. When  the  time came  for advancing to the  next  level of  hard work, dedication, determination and  commitment, three ladies prevailed. These  three ladies  are:

Julea  Ferrara

Vanessa  Nava

Theresa  Leticia  Ramirez

These Ladies became  the  first line  to  cross  Beta  Omega Chapter for  the Spring 2002 Semester. These  ladies  are also  known as  "Las  Tres Invencibles" or " The  Invicible  Three".

Our  Second Line ... in  the  fall 2002 Beta  Omega  Started  their next Interest  Group with  eight ladies. These Ladies worked diligently with the sisters participating in Socials, Bonding  activities, community Services, study  tables and  fundraisers that  ultimately raised hundreds  of  dollars. These Interested  Ladies worked  hard to  represent  Lambda Theta  Alpha and as the semester progressed, five ladies moved on to the  next level. In the  spring  semester  of  2003, these  five ladies became the second line to  cross at Beta  Omega Chapter.

Veronica Karina  Salazar

Maria  N.  Ramos

Sarah Mazhar

Alma Mota

Cristina  Hernandez

Our  third  Line ... In the  fall of  2003 five  ladies  formed an  iterest  group. Throughout the  year two of these  ladies continued  to  work hard and  remain dedicated. They  participated in community services, campus events and  fundraised moner. When the  fall 2004 came  these  twoladies were  ready to begin their  journey into the sisterhood of LTA. They became  line  three  of  Beta  Omega Chapter  and the  first Fall  line  to cross  in Michigan . These  Ladies  are

Sonia  Gutierrez

also  Known  as " El Duo Dinamico"

Finally  ...Bringing  Lambda  Theta  Alpha to Wayne  State  Univeristy  Campus  enriches the Ladies  of Beta  Omega Chapter because  it is  the  FIRST Latin Sorority. Empowering the  Universal  Womand and  our  communities.LTA  has  paved  the  way for other  Latino  Organizations present  on the campus  of  Wayne  State .
