Beta Omega
Chapter History
How it all began....
In the Fall 2000 semester, nine ladies were
searching for a sororityto belong to. An organization that consisted of principles, goals, and meaning
to fit their needs. However , none of the sororities on campus seemed to appeal to these ladies, nor did they
fit their qualifications of bring based on each of their particular cultures. There were NO Latina
Sororities at Wayne State University. So the ladies began their search and eventually came across Lambda
Theta Alpha Latin Sorority, Incorporated. The Nine ladies began doing research on Lambda Theta
Alpha and realized what stood out the most was thier purpose whcih incorporated community service,
cultural awareness, academic advancement and the bond, a sisterhood that brought college women together
united by their cultural roots. The nine ladies began an unofficial Interest Group and began
to participate in community services, fundraisers and attend socials put on by the Sisters of Beta
Pi (EMU) and Beta Omicron ( Uof M). In January 2001 the National Board of Directors
under the leadership of Rosalinda Diaz, granted the approval to be the Official
Interested Ladies of Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority, Inc. at Wayne State University.
During this time the interested
ladies continued to commit themselves to their studies (Academic Advancement), colunteering (Community Service & Cultural
Awareness),funraising and working together to become better acquainted with each other( A bond between
woman). The Hard work and dedication to the Interest Group finally paid off and their
